Baking Up Support: Pillsbury’s Partnership with Operation Homefront
When it comes to baking, Pillsbury is a household name. But did you know that the iconic brand is also making a difference in the lives of military families across the country? Through their partnership with Operation Homefront, Pillsbury is helping to provide rent-free housing, financial planning support, and a sense of community to those transitioning out of military service. Operation Homefront’s Transitional Homes for Veterans program is designed to empower families to reduce debt and build savings, in preparation to purchase their own home upon graduation. Since 2020, Pillsbury has enabled Operation Homefront to purchase five homes for the program, as well as supporting their Critical Financial Assistance and Transitional Housing – Villages programs. On December 7th, during a special Welcome Home Ceremony, Pillsbury and Operation Homefront celebrated U.S. Navy Veteran David Kane moving his family of five into a new rent-free home in Fort Worth. The Kanes will move into the same neighborhood as three other Pillsbury-sponsored veteran families, further strengthening support and community for these families during a crucial time of transition. But Pillsbury’s support doesn’t stop there. On November 10th, leading up to Veterans Day, any purchase of a frozen or refrigerated Pillsbury product via Instacart prompted a $1 donation to Operation Homefront, up to $30,000. The donations will benefit families like the Kanes, as well as the Moore family, a Pillsbury-sponsored family that moved into a new home in Atlanta in September after Whitney Moore served 12 years and nine months in the Navy. In honor of Memorial Day, Pillsbury also donated additional funding to support two important Operation Homefront programs: Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration and Critical Financial Assistance. The donation to the Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration program will help Operation Homefront build houses for military families and gift them mortgage-free as a thank you for their service. The financial assistance donation will help provide relief to military families for critical needs, like groceries, rent or mortgage, utilities, or car repairs that they otherwise may not be able to afford. “Over the past two months, Operation Homefront has seen a significant increase in requests for financial assistance, so we know it’s an important time to support and raise awareness,” said a Pillsbury spokesperson. “Collectively, we want military families to thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.” So the next time you’re baking up a batch of Pillsbury cookies or biscuits, remember that you’re also supporting a company that’s making a difference in the lives of military families across the country. And that’s something we can all feel good about.
